1992 — Onward
In 1992, Cynthia Kelly and Leslie Keats began a collaborative art project in the form of hand–made postcards. By mutual agreement, they created The Postcard Project, sending small mixed–media pieces of artwork back and forth to each other via mail.
Once a card was mailed, it was considered “in circulation.” The recipient could alter it and mail it again in its new state, or take it out of circulation if she considered it complete. Some postcards are mailed back and forth, accumulating layers of collage, messages and postage stamps. Others are mailed only once.
This correspondence has grown to hundreds of postcards, spans over 20 years and continues on.
